The Importance of Practice

One of my SAT Math students, Michael, took the November SAT and just found out that he scored a 670 on the Math portion!!!

We worked together for just about a month (10 hours) and our goal was a 650, which was 110 points above his June score of 540. I think it’s safe to say that we both had a big smile on our faces. 🙂

What made the difference? Practice.

SAT Online Score Report (and “equating”)

The SAT folks provide a free, 10-page (at least in my case) SAT Online Score Report, made up of a Summary of Results, Score Details for each of the 3 sections, Your Essay and the Essay Scoring Guide, and a Glossary of Terms. This report provides some useful information (particularly if you’re planning to take the SAT again) and a platform for me to discuss raw scores, scaled scores, and the statistical process called equating.
